GAS CITY, Ind., Aug. 3 — In what promises to be one of the most entertaining events in the 29-year history of Gas City I-69 Speedway, a night of power and destruction is set for Saturday night, Aug. 14 at the multi-purpose motorsports facility.
The “Night of Destruction Presented by Shrouts Auto and Recovery” (Marion, Ind.) will feature the popular monster trucks and wild school bus racing. In addition, a mini-van demo derby, a rollover competition, and a trailer race will complete the competition side of the evening.
Crushing cars and their popular “freestyle” program will be the key components of the monster trucks’ performances. Headlining the show is Hall of Famer Allen Pezo in "Predator," along with TV superstar "Strait Jacket" and fan-favorite "Pounder."
School buses will compete in a feature event and will provide some behemoth “rubbin’ and racin’” moments usually not seen in the track’s weekly racing events.
Mini-van drivers from throughout the Midwest will mix it up for a $400 first-place payday in a traditional demo-derby format.
In what promises to be a crowd pleaser, various types of vehicles will navigate a special ramp in attempting to roll over as many times as possible to win cash and bragging rights.
The wild and whacky trailer race will feature vehicles pulling a trailer such as a boat trailer, a camper, or other types of trailers. The object is to separate the trailer from the tow vehicle of the other competitors. The winner is whoever still has their trailer after a specified number of laps.
All action takes place around the quarter-mile, clay oval.
Gates will open at 4 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.
Fans don’t have to wait in line to purchase tickets! Seating is general admission, and advance tickets are now available to purchase at https://usacracing.ticketspice.com/2021-night-of-destruction. Advance tickets are $20 for adults, $8 for kids 7-15, and children 6 and under are admitted free with a paid adult. Parking is free.
No coolers are allowed inside the facility. Affordable, family-friendly concessions will be available all night.
There will be no regular racing program at Gas City I-69 Speedway the previous night (Friday, Aug. 13) due to the Night of Destruction. After the monster trucks’ visit, the track’s non-wing sprint cars, modifieds, street stocks and hornets will be back in action on Friday, Aug. 20 with the “Double Down” show. It will feature twin 21-lap features for the sprint cars paying $2,000 to win and $225 to start out of a $20,000 purse.
The complete 2021 schedule and more information are on the track’s website at GasCityI69Speedway.com. Fans and competitors can also follow it on Twitter: @GasCitySpeedway; Instagram: @GasCitySpeedway and Facebook: GasCitySpeedwayOnTheGas.
